I have neglected my blog for the last 2 months. My excuse? Competing deadlines. I am writing this in Caffe Nero where I have had the pleasure of bumping into other lap toppers including a philosophy lecturer who gave me some very helpful ideas.
Barefoot teacher educators?
I wrote a paper reflecting on the phenomenon of experienced teachers taking on a role that had previously been the preserve of university staff. The title included the term ‘barefoot tutors’, which I had picked up when reading about China at the time of Mao Zedong.

World Teachers' Day on 5th October was marked by the publication of the document ‘Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession’ by UNESCO. World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994 to commemorate the ILO / UNESCO recommendations about the status of teachers, put forward in 1966.
